Whim - Dating, Not Texting App Reviews

Good idea... Still no critical mass of people

I love the idea. However, Ive used this app for months now... and I still havent gotten one match / date. Other apps (Hinge, and even controversial, selective, The League) have yielded matches, and high quality matches, on a regular basis. My settings are the same on all apps so perhaps the thought of meeting people IRL makes users more selective about whom they "swipe right" on in Whim... Ill admit its made me a bit more cautious when swiping. The app itself is good, but still buggy. Crashes still happen way too regularly, many times I will not even receive one person to say yes or no to, let alone multiple people to choose from, in one day, and pictures from Facebook are still automatically uploaded to your profile... You cant manually select which ones you want. Needs a lot more users to make the app a fully functional community.

Not available in NYC

Operational cities Should be noted in description.

Great ap for meeting people

This ap is unique from others in that it cuts out the hassle of having to coordinate a date with a match...which any dating ap user knows so often ends only with excessive chatting, flaking and few actual dates. Im also a big believer that you cant know if youll click with someone until you meet them I person, and the best thing is to do that quickly, rather than spend that time chatting, researching the person, etc. Whim allows me to avoid falling into that trap and gets me out on dates, fast!

Apple ID password

Why should I enter my Apple ID pass everytime when I open the app?

Not working

Could not enter the App. Crashing each time...

Selling your phone number

Beware, you have to give a personal phone number when creating an account, and somehow I received suspicious spam texts shortly after using this app. Please exercise caution and think twice with this one - now they might have my # forever and selling it to god knows who.

Thanks whim...how refreshing

Ive been on a lot of the other dating sites and Hate all the back and forth messaging that never ended in a date. I was like always on my phone (embarrassing I know). But with this app, I just got set up with out the bs and then got to meet in person, which landed me an awesome (and hot:) gf. If she had to have read my writing attempts prior, I doubt this would have happened. Feel free to contact me if you want to hear more about my story. Its rare to get something actually good from an app, so thanks.

Push notification spam

App spams me with "motivational messages" on an almost daily basis. DO NOT WANT

Cool idea, needs work

Ive had this app for 4 days now and for whatever reason my matches do not show up within the app. I have to go to my notifications and select the matches I have from there in order to either accept or decline the date. The app also doesnt allow cancellation within the interface, leading users to have to awkwardly contact this person we are matched with to cancel the date if we cannot make it. It would be cool if I could cancel the date from within the app.

Not enough users

I had the app for about 3 weeks and ended up deleting today bc there arent enough users...so more days than not, Whim didnt send me any potential matches. I wrote them thinking there was a glitch, but they told me it was bc they didnt have enough users that fit my match preference (which wasnt even very limiting). And the few times Ive matched with someone, Whim kept setting up the date an hour away from my location even though I specified my location. Good concept, bad execution.

Great take on online dating!

Has much potential and look forward to better things to come..

I like the concept of this app

I have been using this app for awhile( about 6 months+). I had two dates so far. Recently, the app arranged me couple dates, no one contacted me before dates (No dates), I think there are a few reasons: people dont use this app anymore; people dont take this app serious anymore; personally, Im old fashioned, I think guys should contact girls first. I like the arrangement idea to cut all unnecessary steps before people actually meet. I think it doesnt work as it designed ideally because its not mandatory to actually meet someone even chosen by users themselves voluntarily, which maybe approved that "free is not free/available". The database/users amount, I dont think its enough to charge users base on current users amount, which is kind of a dilemma of developing this app. Another thing I really like about this app is the business information involved, I live in west side of DTLA, almost never go to the art district, my first date was arranged there. Its good for business promotion. BUT AGAIN, not all business ideas can survive in the real world. I experienced technical problems sometimes, but I think its the least concern of developing this app. As much as I like it from business perspective, I dont see this app will still exist in next 12 months, 18 months maximum, unless it has fundamentally change.

Finally!

Chatting and scheduling is the worst part of dating. I love this concept and wish all app dating worked this way.

App crashes wth

App does not open anymore. If I tap on icon, it crashes immediately. Cant use the app anymore

Key features broken

Intriguing concept but currently unusable due to the age range selector being broken.

Dates, not pen pals.

Tonight, I had the privilege of getting to know a lovely woman on a real live date instead of chatting over text. This app takes the game out of online dating and helps you find a real connection. Highly recommend for anyone looking for more than just swipes and pen pals.

Real dates

It saves me so much time to get a real date. Not many people use it yet, its both an advantage and disadvantage

Has Potential ...

I like the app. I have had one date. There is similarity with other dates. The woman has final control. However, in case there is a match but no convenient nights/days are available with your match - you are stuck, with no way to communicate to the actual person. This needs to be fixed. Looks like the dating pool is very small (or I am not getting matched!) But since the app is still accepting investment, I think they are still developing a dating pool. Please keep working on it. I like the app. Give it a 3.

does this even work?

I dld this on itunes and it doesnt open.

Interesting concept

I like the concept of the app, however even in its hometown of SF I was able to run out of matches in under an hour. Since then it has shown me no new profiles, which defeats the point of the app.
